Mark Wahlberg – Fans will love New Transformers, The Last Knight
Michael Bay’s Transformers: Age of Extinction fundamentally changed the nature of the franchise when it hit theaters in 2014. Taking the action away from Shia LaBeouf‘s Sam Witwicky, the series pivoted to place new focus on Mark Wahlberg’s Cade Yeager, and a brand new army of Dinobots. Transformers: The Last Knight will double down on that new direction, and Mark Wahlberg himself recently came out and admitted that the expected fan-favorite Transformers will have a strong connection to the Dinobot mythos. He explained:
It’s a cool new story. It’s kind of like a ‘man on the run.’ Sir Anthony Hopkins is also in the film. We got a cool new cast. Cool new robots. Cool new villains, and some cool new Dinobots. I think you guys are really gonna go crazy for the mini-Dinobots.
With that quote we can officially confirm appearances by the mini-Dinobots inTransformers: The Last Knight. In a brand new Facebook video to promote the release of Deepwater Horizon, Mark Wahlberg opened up regarding the nature ofThe Last Knight‘s story, and provided some key information about the narrative.
He seems particularly excited about the appearance of the mini-Dinobots, and he feels confident that they will become brand new fan-favorite characters once audiences get a chance to see Transformers 5.
We cannot say that we’re surprised to learn that mini-Dinobots are going to make an appearance in the upcoming Transformers movie. Their mythology has already been established with the Transformers universe.
The previous film, Transformers: Age of Extinction, dealt heavily with the presence of the Dinobots on Earth, and as such it seems that the mini-Dinobots will debut in the new Transformers movie as a holdover from that narrative.
That being said, their actual relevance to The Last Knight‘s story is something we still have very little knowledge of.
Aside from the Dinobots revelation, Mark Wahlberg was also able to shed some light on other interesting story elements for Transformers: The Last Knight. Perhaps the most fascinating aspect of the story is his description of the overall plot.
Describing it as a “man on the run” story, we can likely expect Wahlberg’s character, Cade Yeager (best name ever), to become a fugitive of some sort. This will send him on the run, and lead him to make contact with Sir Anthony Hopkins‘ character, who has a connection to WWII era Transformers — a time period few expected to see in the upcoming film.
Overall, Transformers: The Last Knight has remained very firmly under lock and key in recent months, but we will bring you any and all pertinent details related to the upcoming fifth installment in the franchise as more information becomes available to us.
Transformers: The Last Knight will hit theaters on June 23, 2017. Stay tuned for more explosive details!
