Allen Onyema Emerges Centre For Change’s Man Of The Year
“Selflessness is the key to inner peace.” Christofer Drew.
The Centre for Change under the leadership of International Woman of Courage, Dr Joe Okei-Odumakin, gathered at the National Secretariat of the organisation today, Thursday, 26th September, 2019 in Lagos, to honour an embodiment of uncommon Milk of Compassion for humanity, Chief Allen Onyema, Chairman, Air Peace Airline.
It should be recalled that Chief Onyema is the only Nigerian of means who rose to the occasion when it mattered most to the lives of many stranded Nigerians whose lives were gravely endangered by Xenophobic attacks in South Africa. The cost of such intervention can best be imagined than told.
It is patriotic to note that against all odds, Air Peace Airline persevered and insisted on evacuating 503 stranded Nigerians at the height of xenophobic attack in South Africa.
It is on the strength of this humane intervention that CfC organized an unprecedented recognition and induction event in honour of Chief Allen Onyema to celebrate his spirited humanitarian and deep sense of patriotism.
In her remarks as the President, Centre for Change, Dr Joe was delighted that a Selfless Philanthropist would be installed into the Hallowed ‘Hall of the Prestigious ‘Ambassadors of Change and Man of the Year’ by extension, the Nigerian people, noting that Chief Onyema as a Change Ambassador has proved by his life-saving interventions that one does not need to have access to public funds before impacting on humanity.
Her speech read in parts:
“As a co-traveler in nation building, who has set an unassailable pedestal of patriotism and heroism for the entire Africa continent, it’s our belief that the recognition and celebration of this great gesture would invoke more humanitarian spirits in other countrymen, especially those with means and also dissect the impending dangers of xenophobic tendencies in concert with Diplomatic relations.”
“By the powers conferred on me as the President, Centre for Change, I hereby present to you this ‘Award of Ambassador of Change and Masses’ Man of the Year 2019.’
Adding his thoughts on the significance of the award, Chief Onyema expressed his deep appreciation to the president and management of Centre for Change for such great honour, noting that ‘he is the happiest man on earth considering the community and source of such a ‘tonic to do more’-award.
He said further that even though he had received over five hundreds awards but the Best Award among the rest is the one just conferred on his person today because of the community that present the award, the community he has so frantenized himself with since his secondary school days till date.
He spoke further that he shares the same values and dreams of advancing the humanitarian courses with this community. He concluded by saying that money, truly, is good to provide comforts in life but as a principle, he doesn’t worship money and doesn’t expect anyone to do. Money should be deployed as a tool to make the world a better place.
