Buhari appoints Prof. Gambari as new Chief of Staff
Former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Professor Ibrahim Gambari, has been appointed the new Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari. With his appointment, he replaces Mallam Abba Kyari, who died last month of COVID-19.
It is gathered that Gambari, who was Buhari’s,foreign Minister and confidant as military Head of late in the 1980s met with the President at about 8am on Tuesday at the State House, Abuja.
Gambari was a former Under Secretary General of the United Nations.
He hails from, from Kwara State was the Minister of External Affairs between 1984 and 1985. The 78 years old is a professor of repute and a global citizen.
Prof. Gambari served meritoriously in the United Nations and was also Special Adviser to the Secretary-General on Africa between 1999 and 2005.
He is a global citizen whose scholarly works are also recognised both home and abroad. He is the pioneer Chancellor of the Kwara State University.
