Destiny Child come back would be ‘wonderful’- Beyonce’s Dad
Destiny’s Child are reportedly in ‘tentative talks’ about a potential reunion after the coronavirus pandemic, but reps have splashed cold water on fans’ dreams.
The group made up of Beyonce, Kelly Rowland, and Michelle Williams were said to have been discussing a potential comeback for the iconic girl group.
A source said: ‘There’s been tentative talks between all three.
‘They’ve always said they would get back together one day when the time is right – and there is no time like the present.’
‘Nothing has been signed off yet, but as soon as a vaccine is ready and the pandemic is over, watch out for an announcement. It would really lift fans’ spirits.’
Beyonce’s father and former Destiny’s Child manager Matthew Knowles said that a reunion would be ‘wonderful.’
He said: ‘I certainly hope they do. It would be wonderful, wouldn’t it? But you know, things like that require years of preparation and timing. Most people don’t know how touring works and how the industry works.
‘It takes years to put together a tour, get the band together, get the dancers together, then decide which size venues you’re going to have, start rehearsals, and it would probably be a world tour… it would be two to three years, even if the answer was yes today.’
The all girls group formed back in 1990 and went through a number of different line-ups (LaTavia, LeToya and Farrah, never forget) before landing on Beyonce, Kelly and Michelle in 2000.
The girls achieved worldwide success with songs like Survivor, Bootylicious and Independent Women, as well as earlier tracks like Bills Bills Bills and Say My Name, but in 2005, announced that they would be leaving the band ‘on a high note’, and had their farewell performance in February 2006.
Since then, the girls have collaborated on each other’s music, and the whole group got back together for Beyonce’s Super Bowl halftime show in 2015 and her epic Coachella set last year.
Kelly hinted ‘I will say, we have made incredible music in the past, and I don’t know. Can we, like, have surprises in this day and age?’
The Motivation singer continued: ‘I mean, I’m just saying. I just find it so interesting, everybody wants to know in advance.
‘I know every time there is a decision to be made for myself and the ladies to do something, it’s usually a surprise. And our fans have always been so supportive and so awesome, like, I like to give them surprises.’
