J Rio‘s real name is Junior Sandza, he is a young Gabonese artiste based in Houston, in the American state of Texas. He was born in Libreville, the capital of Gabon (Central Africa). He spent his childhood in the 3rd city of the country, Franceville, from where he’s mother is an indigene.

In 2007, J Rio left for the United States and there he met a group of young Gabonese people who were also interested in music. After a while, they together formed the “High Definition Band”. On listening to Ice Prince’s (Nigeria) “Oleku” song, J Rio decided to do a cover for the song and he named it “Oh Le Gout”. Interestingly the remix became a hit acoss the whole of Gabon and several other countries. J Rio continued doing cover for other songs like “Aie si C’est Ma go” a cover from the Brazilian, Michel Telo’s world wide hit “Ai si tu pego”. The two hit songs established J Rio as the new face of modern Gabonese music.
He had to prove, he can do more than being a cover artiste, J Rio dropped his first original song in September 2012 titled “Elle est accro” (She’s addicted) which was well accepted. In 2013, J Rio recorded a love song “Je t’aime oh” (vrai vrai) which was sang in French and Gabonese language. The song did very well among the music audience and the video was frequently rotated on leading international music channel TRACE TV. There and then, J Rio’s popularity increased across Cote d’ivoire, Cameroon, Congo as well as in the Disapora.
J Rio is an R&B, Afro Pop and Afrobeats artiste.
