Former President of Nigeria, Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan on Tuesday night, made a statement on the death of his former Special Adviser, Ken Saro – Wiwa Jnr, the message reads thus.
“A bright star has been prematurely plucked, from the Nigerian firmament. Ken Wiwa, like his father, Ken Saro – Wiwa, was a patriot. My prayers are with the family, he left behind. Adieu, great son of Nigeria”.

However, the Nigerian community on Tuesday night was thrown into mourning following the shocking news of the death of the late journalist, whose cause of death is still sketchy, as at press time.

Ken Wiwa, was born in 1968 and died on the 18th of October, 2016. He was a Nigerian journalist and author. Who in 2013, served as an aide to President Goodluck Jonathan, as the Senior Special Assistant, on Civil Society and International Media.

Wiwa, was educated in Nigeria and at Stancliffe Hall School and Tonbridge School in England and then at the School of Slavonic and East European Studies, which is now part of University College, London.

He was Editor of the UK Guardian’s New Media Lab, where he developed content for the paper’s online edition. During his time, he was a regular commentator on major news channels, including CNN, BBC, Al-Jazeera.

Wiwa during his lifetime, produced and narrated television and radio documentaries, for the BBC and CBC.

In 2005, he returned to Nigeria and the following year, Nigerian President, Olusegun Obasanjo appointed Wiwa as his Special Assistant on Peace, Conflict Resolution and Reconciliation. He also served late President, Umaru Yar’Adua as the Special Assistant on International Affairs. Ken Wiwa, was reported dead on October 18, 2016 and was the eldest son of late Nigerian human right activist and author, Ken Saro – Wiwa.
