IGP orders release of violators of covid-19 lockdown rules
The Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu has ordered the release of everyone who was detained for violating the lockdown order imposed on various parts of the country.
It will be recalled that that President Muhammadu Buhari on March 30, imposed a total lockdown on the FCT, Lagos State and Ogun State in order to curb the spread of the coronavirus pandemic in these areas.
A number of persons were arrest for violating the lockdown order in one way or the other. While some were have been tried in the newly established mobile courts, others still remain in Police detention.
It is expected that those still in detention will regain their freedom soon, on the orders of the IGP.
