Farmers in Imo State doing business in the palm oil and fisheries value chains will soon access grants to improve on their production and processing activities.

This opportunity is coming from the UK DFID Markets Development in the Niger Delta (MADE) program, which is launching its Technology Adoption Grant in Imo State on Wednesday, November 16, 2016.

In a release earlier made by DFID MADE, successful bids from farmers and cooperative societies in the State will have access to about one million naira (N1,000,000) from the TAG fund in order to adopt the new technologies being introduced to them for increased productivity and efficiency.

Speaking to newsmen in his office, Hon. Remy Chukwunyere, the Principal Officer to the Imo State Governor on Employment and Job Creation said that he is so grateful to God that his efforts to attract international donor support to complement the giant strides his boss, Governor Rochas Okorocha is making to achieve his new visions of massive job creation and employment generation are yielding fruits.

According to him, the mandate of his office is to drive the manpower development policies of the State and to reduce the rate of unemployment among youths through the development and implementation of programs and projects that will lead to the creation of jobs and employment for the unemployed.

You may wish to recall that in October, 2016, Hon. Remy Chukwunyere attracted the hosting of the 2016 Niger Delta Development Forum (NDDF) in Imo State. The annual event which gathered development stakeholders and donor agencies from across the world created an unprecedented opportunity for His Excellency, Owelle Rochas Okorocha and his deputy, Prince Eze Madumere to engage those august visitors in various strategic partnership meetings.

Continuing, Mr. Chukwunyere disclosed that “the launch of this grant in Imo State by the DFID MADE team would not have been possible if not for the unspeakable humility and simplicity of His Excellency, Prince Eze Madumere, who accepted to hold a business meeting with the development partners, when I beckoned on him to do so”.

He thereafter thanked the DFID MADE Project team led by Mr. Tunde Oderinde for accepting to empower farmers in Imo State. He assured them of the Government’s promise to provide all the necessary logistics required to ensure that the program succeeds in Imo State.
