Kidnap kingpin, Hamisu Bala reveals how he met Captain Tijjani Balarabe
The arrested Taraba kidnap kingpin, Hamisu Bala Wadume, has revealed how he met Captain Tijjani Balarabe, the Nigerian Army officer who allegedly freed him from the police when he was first arrested.
In another of his confession at his interrogation, Wadume said he met Captain Balarabe when the latter paid a visit to the King of Ibi town.
Wadume said the King had also invited him to his palace as the town’s as the youth leader where he met Captain Balarabe and from there, they became close friends and business partners.
He further revealed how he gave the Captain the sum of N30,000 at the first meeting before giving him other cash and gifts subsequently.
Wadume who used to be a fish trader before going into crime, stated that he delved into arms trafficking in 2018.
“Three weeks later, I went to him again and gave him N50,000. I started fueling army patrol vehicles whenever they were going on patrol. I do this on every market day. There was even a time I also sent N200,000 to the Captain’s bank account.”
The suspect said he was introduced into arms trafficking by his friend, Babaginda Musa.
“Babaginda sold two AK47 rifles to me at the rate of N650,000. He bought two other K2 rifles for me at N550,000. I bought four rifles at the rate of N2.4 million.
I bought those rifles a day after the presidential election. I also bought three boxes of ammunition from Galadima and Babaginda at the rate of N400,000. I paid N1.2 million. I then sold the three boxes of ammunition at the rate of N480,000 each to Yakubu Yan-Maza and four AK47 rifles at the rate N760,000 each.”
