LIKE EVERY ACTOR, I HAVE MY OWN FAVORITES – ALEX OKOROJI
Alex Okoroji, a versatile Queen of of expression, is a creative artiste, media personality, content creator and a creative entrepreneur, who has reinvented herself, over the years as an actress, writer, television personality, talk radio host, speaker, author and self help mentor.
Alex Okoroji, as a Nigerian TV actress had been in the movie industry, for over a decade, from her TV debut in 2005 on a reality TV show, which was the very first edition of Amstel Malta Box Office (AMBO), to her first role in a soap opera “Heaven’s Gate” in 2006 and then her first feature film, the following year.
Alex Okoroji, had altogether, starred in up to 15 Nollywood movies. Of which, some are yet to be released. But the truth, is she consider herself to be more of TV personality, than an actress.
Part of her works, is producing a documentary, which details are yet to be released.
When asked on which of her movie role, had been the most challenging to her, during an interview with NaijaOnlineTV, she informed that she is still waiting to meet the film producer or director, that will take that leap of faith, with her, however, she picks her lead role in the movie, “Hero’s Bride” as been emotionally tasking for her.
As she had to sing, mime and act, even some of her shortest scenes had like 4 to 5 pages and her monologues, were like at least 10 lines long. Which almost seemed like a poetry.
Another movie role, she finds challenging, is playing “Fatima” in the series “Tales of Eve“, where she had to learn, how to be a northern woman.
Also she spoke, about her role “Helen”, which she played in the movie, “Waiting Years” as challenging, from her stripping in front of an entire crew to actually “smoking”, which she say she dislikes, to her kissing several men in the film.
Nonetheless, Alex Okoroji remembers her first movie role, in a feature film, titled “Calabar Girl”, produced by Sola Fajobi, the executive producer of Next Movie Star, starring Annie Macaulay Idibia, Femi Brainard, Kunle Coker, Kingsley Ogboso and mode distinguished actors.
She played a supporting role in the movie, while the movie was filmed in Calabar, where she had the opportunity of learning some efik words.
Alex Okoroji, became popular, on a television soap opera, “Spider”, where she had played the role of ” Betty “. Her role as ” Susan” on Tinsel earned her more fame across Africa.
When asked on her favorite actor and actresses, she prefers working with on locations, Alex Okoroji interestingly mentioned, the likes of Femi Brainard, Yemi Blaq, John Njamah, Kalu Ikeagwu, Empress Njamah, Femi Branch, Bimbo Akintola, RMD, Desmond Elliot, Omotola Jalade Ekehinde, Kunle Coker, Adaora Ukoh, Doris Simeon, however she made it clear that she is always looking forward to working with any set of quality actors.
However, part of her present hands on project, is working on a short film, she is developing for a shoot.
She had also written a recently filmed Hollywood/Nollywood production and can’t wait for the release.
Interestingly, Alex Okoroji, is also getting ready for her virtual summit “The Naked Challenge” creative mastery global summit, which is a 6 days of creative bliss with 25 experts from around the world.
As she informed, day 5 of the summit, is for music, film and television.
Guest speakers according to Okoroji, are Stella Damasus, Chidi Mokeme and John Njamah, to mention a few.
Aside acting Alex Okoroji, is an all round creative entertainer, who is also a talk radio host, where she hosts, a live international globally syndicated talk radio show, “The Naked Talk”, with Alex Okoroji broadcast on Blog Talk Radio, a New York based digital radio platform and syndicated on all the major podcast platforms around the world, i.e. stitcher, player FM, iTunes, Tune-in, Acast and podcastpedia. She is also a host on audioboom, where she presents, her motivational audio series.
Alex Okoroji, is also a writer, who writes screenplay for film and television, poetry e.t.c. she is as well a blog author at “Alexandra N’Her Naked Thoughts”.
However, she thinks funding, management and distribution are the main challenges of the Nigerian movie industry, which she say is largely funded by individuals.
Alex Okoroji informed, she likes different actors for different reasons as her favourite, nevertheless, she made a long list of favourites, which are, Sam Dede, Ramsey Nouah, Clem Ohaneze, Bob Manuel Udokwu, Femi Branch, Femi Brainard, Yul Edochie, Yemi Blaq, John Njamah, Jude Orhorha, Blossom Chukwujeji, Gideon Okeke, Oc Ukeje e.t.c.
She is of the opinion, that every actor, must be respected, as each has a signature or style, that is either reminiscent or feeds of their individual personality.
Alex Okoroji, named her favourite Nollywood actresses to be, Taiwo Ajayi Lycett, Franca Brown, Edith Jane Azu, Liz Benson, Stella Damascus, Bimbo Akintola, Omotola Jalade Ekehinde, Tina Mba, Funlola Aofiyebi Raimi, Nse Ikpe Etim, Stephanie Okereke, Ronke Odusanya, Opeyemi Aiyeola, Uche Jombo, Adaora Ukoh, Chioma Chukwuka, Linda Ejiofor and many others.
As an author, Alex Okoroji, recently published, a self help book titled “The Naked Truth” lies stripped. She calls it an intimate and relatable book that offers wisdom, to those struggling to accept the truth about who they really are and what they really want out of love, life and reinvention of self.
In the next five years, Alex Okoroji, would like to see herself becoming a global brand. Living her purpose and empowering others, finding her happiness and being fulfilled with her choices.
