In a video circulating on social media, the son travelled home refusing his father’s warning. On arrival at Ekiti the son’s temperature was taken by the state’s health official whose voice can be heard at the background talking to father and son.
The state has been on lockdown since March 29, when the President Muhammadu Buhari, announced for initial 14 days. On Monday it confirmed four new cases between the ages of 9 and 10 years.
Asked why he would not allow his son come to home the man said he was not comfortable with the test taken.
He said; “I have given him instruction not to travel yesterday morning ,and made complaint to the security officials. I have gone to Dr Fashola and spoken with the Chief Security Officer and told them if this boy should come i will not house him, that he should get proper certification before I can admit him to my house.”
The son named Babafemi in the video said he left Lagos via Abeokuta but before his arrival, his father had given the state health officials his phone numbers who were able to track him when he got to Ekiti state.
Despite the result of the son turning negative, the man a retired Road safety official was adamant the son should be self self isolated for 14 days because of fear not contacting the virus.
“The rule says anyone that stands the risk of contacting the virus should self isolate for 14 day and i don’t have a place to isolate myself.”
“I don’t want his case to be like that of the pregnant women that threw Ekiti state into confusion. I am a discipline person that’s why i started this complain since yesterday. Some people will hear about this thing and will not do anything until it will boomeranged.”
The health official said that because the temperature of the son was 36 degrees and he can not be taken to the isolation centre.
The father was adamant as he drove off despite the health officer urging the son to join his father in his car.
