Manchester City Decimate Chelsea To Go Back Top Of The Premier League
Manchester City went back top of the Premier League table as they tore Maurizio Sarri’s Chelsea side apart in a 6-0 win on Sunday afternoon.
Sergio Aguero was the main protagonist for Manchester City in haunting Chelsea’s defence as he scored a hat-trick before the 65th minute mark in City’s destruction of Chelsea on Sunday before being taken off.
Chelsea actually improved in the first half after the fourth had gone in but the second half was all City again. Aguero hit the bar before a penalty gave him the chance to make it 5-0, to the surprise of no one he did just that.
Sterling added his second of the game, and City’s sixth, with 11 minutes to go as once again the away side’s defence failed to deal with a ball across the box.
The former Arsenal forward’s substitution in the 65th minute earned him an even earlier Man of the Match award than Paul Pogba managed on Saturday in Manchester United’s win over Fulham.
The win took City back to the top of the Premier League table before they start a run of three games in a row not in the league.
Aguero’s hat-trick meant he’d scored two back to back triples and equalled Alan Shearer’s mark of 11 Premier League hat-tricks.
The win takes City back above Liverpool in the race for the league title on goal difference, something they’ve won the league with before.
