The patriot in me tells me Nigeria will defeat Algeria tonight in their semi-final encounter. Aside patriotism, I’m inspired by the growing confidence and continuous improvement of the team, which have seen them overcome two of their toughest opponents, South Africa and Cameroon. Those two matches were tough, nail-biting, nerve-wracking and almost scary, but in the end, we made it.
Something tells me tonight’s match won’t be any different from those two previous games. Algeria will fall to Nigeria for the 10th time! Tonight, Nigeria will improve its head-to-head record against Algeria, from 9-7.
It’s great the players, according to my egbon, Olusegun Odegbami, are not resting on their oars. They are apparently taking it one game, one victory, at a time, which is very good. So, they will take on Algeria like they are the lesser of the two-and fight like David fought against Goliath. I like it.
At the end of the day, or rather night, Nigeria will play her way into the finals and ultimately bring home the trophy after beating whoever qualifies between Tunisia and Senegal. One game at a time. So, we focus on tonight’s game and wish the Super Eagles the very best.
Seriously, Nigerians are in dire need of some good news. Winning tonight’s game will be most appreciated by Nigerians, who are feeling hard done by with the ceaseless flow of negative and unfavorable news and events.
