His new movie and sequel to Mechanic, Mechanic – Resurrection boasts of more action and stunts and most trendy is his Spider-man like posters which of course shows off stunts from the $40m valued net worth British born actor.
Jason Statham has featured in films which have managed to gross-in of $1 billion USD at the box office making him one of the hottest sought after actors in Hollywood.
Really, combine the profits from movies like expendables, The Italian Job, Death Race etc.
A little action packed movie didn’t hurt anyone, right? Among the sea of comedy and horror trailer we’ve seen posted lately, an action clip should count as good measure.
Mechanic: Resurrection, is the sequel to the 2011 action thriller which brought in $62 million at the global box office. In fact, The Mechanic was a remake of the 1972 film of the same name starring Charles Bronson and directed by Michael Winner.
Summit Entertainment has released the first trailer a couple of days ago.
The official trailer reads:
Arthur Bishop (Jason Statham) returns as the Mechanic in the sequel to the 2011 action thriller. When the deceitful actions of a cunning but beautiful woman (Jessica Alba) force him to return to the life he left behind, Bishop’s life is once again in danger as he has to complete an impossible list of assassinations of the most dangerous men in the world.
“The continuously expanding Jason Statham library isn’t full of too many great movies, but it is full of movies that make simple promises and then deliver exactly what you need them to deliver. He is the king of low expectations. You put on one of his movies hoping to watch a tough guy with a cockney accent obliterate a bunch of bad guys and he always delivers. And that’s not faint praise, either. There aren’t many actors who can pull that off.” (via Slashfilm)”
“Over the past decade or so, Jason Statham has morphed from French Connection clothes-horse to Brit-pic also-ran to international action hero – and after sitting through The Mechanic I can semi-see why. This upgrade of the 1972 Charles Bronson hitman caper is slick, silly and oddly enjoyable, while the actor proves effortlessly assured as the lonesome samurai who first bumps off his mentor (Donald Sutherland, coasting in a wheelchair) and then in turn starts mentoring his victim’s loose-cannon son (played with a pleasing, wonky intensity by Ben Foster).” (The Guardian)
Mechanic: Resurrection was directed by Dennis Gansel (We Are the Night, Before the Fall) and was filmed on location in Bangkok, Thailand. Tommy Lee Jones (No Country for Old Men, Captain America) also stars alongside Alba and Statham.
The movie will debut in theaters on August 26.
