A 24-year-old man, Opomo Bello Terry, has been arrested by the police in Delta State after he tried to scam billionaire husband of Nollywood actress, Regina Daniels, Ned Nwoko.
It was gathered that Terry had tried to scam the billionaire for N700, 000 with the claim that he was sent to assassinate his wife.
In an interview with newsmen when he was paraded by the police, Terry said he hatched the plan to extort money from the Delta State-born billionaire and had no intention of harming Regina Daniels.
Terry confirmed that he is a fraudster and that he had called Nwoko to claim that he was hired to assassinate his wife. He noted that he asked the man for N700,000 to stop the assassination.
He further revealed that Nwoko, who did not believe him, asked him to come clean and tell him what he wanted. He said he told the man the truth, that his only intention was to scam him.
However, Nwoko sent N400,000 to Terry’s account and reported him to the bank which led to his arrest. Terry explained that he later said he told Nwoko to assist him with funds. He said he learned from his experience with Nwoko that there is no shortcut to success. He noted that he was staying in Ghana before he came to Nigeria to carry out the scam.
