After battling with depression for over a week, a young Nigerian rapper and former member of Olamide Baddoo’s YBNL record label, Olanrewaju Pelepele, has committed suicide in the Ikorodu area of Lagos State.
According to information, Pelepele who had shared an emotional video online talking about how depressed he was and his plans to take his own life, drank a poisonous substance on Friday, September 20, and was found dead in his apartment.
It was gathered that at the time the video was going viral online, many of his friends did not take him serious as they did not believe he could actually carry out his threat of killing himself.
His death, according to his friends, was as a result of his depression and the feelings of failure he has experienced as he could not break into the mainstream music industry like his mates even after being on the scene for over 10 years.
Some of his friends who took to Facebook to lament his sad demise, Pelepele also known as Makanaki, was a very talented young rapper who was once signed on by Olamide Badoo but despite all his efforts, he could not just cut it in the industry leading to Olamide parting ways with him.
The young rapper had dropped several singles but none of them were hits and he felt he had failed and could no longer take the shame of being a wanna-be artiste any longer, hence his decision to take his own life.
