Sowore, Going Forward…
It doesn’t look like this govt has any strong case against Sowore. That’s a no-brainer. It’s predictable that they will even bungle the case even if they have one against him before any charges are filed. This is Nigeria. Sowore will be a free man sooner than later. He knows that. Except someone in high place has already decided El Shakyshaky treatment for Sowore.
But once Sowore is let off the hook, in my view, he should make a choice between being a politician or a ‘freedom fighter’. He can’t pretend to be both. That’s why he has lost so much goodwill and being derided by those who should stand with him.
If he chooses the former, he gotta come down from his high horse – I know everything that is wrong with Nigeria and I have all the solutions. Politics is all about consensus building. He needs to go and join APC. Surprised? You heard me right 😀. FIGHT FROM WITHIN!
If he chooses the latter, he needs to go and dust his lesson notes from Gani Fawehinmi. He needs to go and enroll in Tactics 101 class.
How on earth would you go and into a meeting with a character like Nnamdi Kanu and jump straight in front of klieg lights announcing everything you plan to do? How tactful is that? Shouldn’t that have been a clandestine meeting if it’s not solely for photo-op and to get some attention? You lost an election. The next is you’re talking of revolution against the government you lost to.
Sowore, you’re a patriot. But don’t be what you accused Obasanjo of: afemi-afemi. And one last thing: real freedom fighters don’t make too much noise. They have separate propaganda machine without drawing attention to themselves. Listen to genuine voices of reason or you’ll go the way of your new found ‘love’, Nnamdi Kanu.
