Teni, Awilo, King Promise and Mafikizolo light up Manchester as Naira Marley and Peruzzi missing
Naira Marley who has been facing prosecution in Nigeria for Internet Fraud charges and recently released on bail might have been a huge set back for the organisers of the Afrobeat to the World Concert in Manchester, but it was evident that most of the guests/attendees where there to see Awilo, one of the legends of Africa, rising superstar Teni, King Promise and Mafikizolo especially.
To some of the guest we at Naija Online TV spoke with, the absence of Peruzzi was not even a considered. We are yet to confirm any vital reasons for his absence though we know Naira Marley would probably not be allowed to leave the country until his case is fully thrown out of court.
The night still went on despite a little rain just as the main acts were to arrive (And to add, in the fashionably African Time – Very Late), most of the guests seemed to enjoy music from the DJs, the hosts of the shows who made sure the lateness was remotely felt by the fans gathered at the 02 Apollo arena in Manchester.
It was superb, it was amazing and kudos to the organisers, Matafi Entertainment for a successful event. Hopefully the first of many to come.
If you attended, do let us know if you were let down by the absence of Naira Marley or Peruzzi, leave us a comment below.
