Wolves Fan Given Three-Year Ban For Throwing Pie At West Ham Fan
The incident happened on 29 January when Wolves beat West Ham 3-0 at Molineux. Josephine Johnson, watching the game in the Steve Bull Stand, got far too caught up in the action and ended up hurling the staple football snack at a Hammers’ fan’s head.
She had initially protested her innocence and said it was an accident but then when CCTV emerged showing otherwise, she had no option but to own up and plead guilty at Walsall Magistrates.
“CCTV was reviewed and identified a female had intentionally dropped the pie. It was dropped from a higher vicinity.
“She had been a season ticket holder for many years.
“She had consumed two pints of alcohol and something from a hip flask. She was in a relationship that had broken down and was going to football as a release.
“She initially said it was an accident, but when shown CCTV admitted she got excited and carried away.
“She thought it would be funny to hit a supporter, she was not trying to hurt anyone.”
Johnson is now banned from attending football games until February 2022, while she also received a £300 fine as well as having to pay costs of £135 and a £30 victim surcharge.
Is the sanction a tad harsh considering other offences committed at games?
